Getting bought out by Disney has had plenty of benefits for Marvel, but none more than the ability to introduce the hottest properties from the House of Mouse into the world of comic books. And next month, Marvel will be bringing John Carter, star of the upcoming Disney movie of the same name, into the pages of the comic world in John Carter: The Gods of Mars.
In conjunction with the estate of Edgar Rice Burroughs, this adaptation of the original novel will focus on Carter's return to Barsoom in order to save the planet from some Martian Gods. This isn't the first time that Marvel has focused on the world of Carter. In 1977, the company released John Carter, Warlord of Mars, and just last year Barsoom was revisited in John Carter of Mars: A Princess of Mars.
This new five-issue John Carter miniseries will be written by Sam Humphries with art by Ramon Perez, who is best known for his acclaimed work on Tales of Sand. Check out some art from the first issue below, which hits shelves on March 21, courtesy of Marvel.
