The first full theatrical trailer for Steven Spielberg's purported classic-in-the making, War HorseMichael Morpurgo's 1982 children's novel turned Broadway musical, looks posed for success on the big screen.

The story follows young Albert (Jeremy Irvine) and his emotionally animated horse, who is taken from him during World War I, and follows their dramatic journey and their devastating separation. And judging from the trailer—which showcases Speilberg's expert heart-string-tugging-abilities amidst an inspiring war backdrop ala Braveheart, along with an animal-star who looks more lovable than Black Beauty and Seabiscuit combined— it's no surprise War Horse has already incited whispers of its Academy Award worthiness.

The movie, which also counts David Thewlis, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jeremy Irvine, Peter Mullan and Emily Watson among its castmembers, will be trotting into theaters on December 25th, 2011.
