Spotify Arrives Here In The States

Europe’s beloved music service is finally available to American listeners.

None

After hashing out distribution deals with the labels, Spotify, the Swedish music subscription streaming service boasting a paying customer base of a million in Europe, launches today in the US.

Its freemium model is intact, offering users the ability to stream any of the service’s 15 million songs for free via desktop, though it’s invite-only for now. For those looking to jump the line, simply pay up now for the Unlimited or Premium options. For $5 or $10 respectively, you can stream via your mobile phone and offline, too.

Its success thus far is a testament to its intuitive design and user-friendly experience, hence why it might be preferable to, say, Amazon’s Cloud Player or Best Buy’s service. Though convincing thrifty types the likes of Grooveshark diehards to start spending on streaming is gonna be a tough sell.
