#24: HECTOR JIMENEZ AS ESQUELETO IN NACHO LIBRE (2006)

Jared Hess, the director responsible for Napoleon Dynamite, tried going two-for-two in the “weirdly hilarious movie” circuit with the Jack Black vehicle Nacho Libre. Once folks saw the flick, however, it was clear that Hess was batting .500. Though not the worst film Black has ever made (that honor goes to his recent travesty Gulliver’s Travels), Nacho Libre suffers from the star’s one-note performance and a notable lack of imagination. Co-star Hector Jimenez does earn some goodwill as Nacho’s luchador tag-team partner Esqueleto, though; mousy and flat-out weak, he’s custom-made for the movie’s bread and butter: in-ring physical comedy. Nobody takes punches from midget wrestlers quite like Esqueleto.
