The 2018 Stanley Cup Finals will kick off with a performance from... Lil Jon?
What? Okay. The NHL announced this weekend that Game 1 of the series will open with a free concert headlined by Lil Jon outside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The concert will begin on Monday at 3:00 p.m. PST before game starts. The performance will be free, open to the public, and no ticket will be required to see the show.
If you won't be in Vegas to see the worlds of hockey and Lil Jon collide, don't worry—NBC will air portions of the performance as well.
The Vegas Golden Knights will face the Washington Capitals in this year's Stanley Cup Finals as they seek a title in their inaugural season as an expansion team. And if their Twitter account is anything to go on, they seem pretty psyched about the Lil Jon performance, as well.
Lil Jon has been a lifelong fan of hockey and recently adopted the Golden Knights as his favorite team while spending extended periods of time in Las Vegas as a resident DJ. Earlier in the playoffs, he told TV reporters, "I've been into hockey for pretty much all my life. It started off with the Atlanta Flames, then the Thrashers, and of course now it's the Golden Knights." He added that the Golden Knights have the "best fans and best arena in hockey, hands down—it's always crazy here."
