FYF Fest 2018 has officially been canceled. The Los Angeles music festival has reportedly been scrapped due to poor ticket sales, according to Billboard. FYF Fest's Twitter page confirmed the news.
"After much consideration, we have made the difficult decision to cancel FYF Fest 2018," reads the statement. "Our team of many women and men have worked tirelessly on this event for many years but felt unable to present an experience on par with the expectations of our loyal fans and the Los Angeles music community this year." The organizers also announced that there will be "some special local shows" that will feature artists from the 2018 lineup.
Ticket buyers were told in an email that they will receive a refund as early as Monday, May 7, according to Billboard.
Janet Jackson, Florence + the Machine, and Future were set to headline this year's July 21-22 festival. Owners of FYF Fest Goldenvoice and AEG shutdown the event just a month after its lineup was announced. Although there were still two-and-a-half months to go before the music festival, the organizers decided that this year's event could not be salvaged. Goldenvoice is the same event producer behind California's Coachella and New York City's Panorama Music Festival.
FYF was created by Sean Carlson in 2004. In the fall, Goldenvoice cut ties with Carlson after accusations of sexual assault and harassment by multiple women came out against him. The incidents are alleged to have happened between 2010 and 2015. Carlson disputed two accounts and said two others were either true or "generally true," saying he "acted inappropriately and shamefully, and deeply regret my actions."
