Donald Glover pulled double duty on the new episode of Saturday Night Live. As the evening's host, he kicked things off with a memorable monologue before debuting new music as Childish Gambino.

For his musical performance, Gambino gave the audience a taste of a previously unreleased, soulful song called "Saturday" after he was introduced by Zoë Kravitz. You can watch the performance above.

He later performed his newest track, "This Is America."

Serving as the night's host and musical guest, Glover follows Drake, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Blake Shelton, and Ariana Grande, who have also picked up the double shift on SNL.

As the second season of his FX show Atlanta comes to a close, it seems Glover his shifting his focus back to music at the moment. He recently announced that he'll be heading out for a run of shows with Rae Sremmurd in September, plus additional dates with Vince Staples in October.

The multi-talented performer also recently inked a deal with Kobalt Music publishing company, joining a stacked roster with artists like 50 Cent, Mike Will Made-It, and Zayn. The contract reportedly covers publishing administration plus global synch and creative support services for his future projects. All of this appears to be leading up to the highly anticipated follow-up to his 2016 album, "Awaken, My Love!"
