Producer Southside of 808 Mafia has come to the defense of Travis Scott after video surfaced of an incident with Tory Lanez on Tuesday afternoon.

Many believe the clip is from an incident that took place over a year ago and has something to do with Lanez's 2016 tweet refuting comparisons to Scott: "I can't sound like anybody I wrote for."

Southside went live on Instagram after WorldStarHipHop released footage of the heated exchange. Suspecting that Lanez leaked the old footage himself to help boost sales of his Memories Don't Die album, Southside said, "We don't gotta do no hoe shit to sell records, you bitch-ass ni**a. Fuck outta here, ni**a. Tell that bitch-ass ni**a Tory Lanez to hit us, ni**a. We want all the smoke, all the fades. Call whoever you want to call, ni**a. We in California on the regular, you bitch-ass ni**a."

One of the songs on Memories Don't Die called "Hate To Say," directly references the incident: "Me and Travis Scott almost fought at the Mala Luna / We both agreed shortly after that it was music / We possibly could be doing that's bigger than tryna ruin it / So my apologies, nigga, just forgive me for doin' it."

Defending his collaborator Travis Scott, Southside ended his video by saying, "We ride with Trav, we with Trav. Know that." Then he added, "I don't care if it's old. You still posted it."
