Lil Peep passed away in November of 2017 at just 21 years old, right as he was on the cusp of mainstream success. Many are still discovering Peep's music after his death, and tributes and memorial services have given more insight into the young artist's life and perspective. Today, an unpublished interview was published that gives a look at where Peep's head was at right before his tragic passing. The interview was confucted by German site ZNova in 2017 via Facebook Messenger, and the whole thing has been published here. See some excerpts below:
On drugs:
"I love to talk about drugs because it is relatable. I am always around different drugs so I sing about it: weed, Xanax, Percocet, lean. I used to do a lot of coke, probably much everything. They’re one of my biggest inspirations."
On Los Angeles club culture:
"It’s more of an escape. I suffer from depression and some days I wake up and I’m like not that shit again. That was part of why I moved to California, trying to get away from the place that was doing that to me, and the people I was around. I don’t express that side of myself on social media. That’s the side of myself that I express through music."
On his plans for the rest of 2017:
"Just getting my name out there. In a couple of years, I’ll be a household name. Everyone’s going to know who I am. I’ve done so much in such a short amount of time already that I don’t think it’s that unreasonable of a goal."
