A suspect is currently being held in a Barbadian prison in connection to the murder of Rihanna's cousin Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne, who was shot and killed while walking home during the country's Boxing Day celebration the day after Christmas.

Local outlet Barbados Today reports that 23-year-old Shawayne DaShawn Williams of St. Michael, Barbados was arrested and charged with the killing Alleyne. At the time, Williams was not required to enter a plea; though witnesses say he was "emotionless" as the charges were read to him. Williams will be held in prison until his next court appearance on January 31, 2018.

Rihanna first brought attention to the death of her cousin with a touching tribute on Instagram in which she also called for an end to gun violence.
