XL Recordings founder and head Richard Russell started releasing music from his Everything Is Recorded project last year, including the Close But Not Quite EP featuring SamphaGiggs, Obongjayar, Green Gartside, Infinite, and Mela Murder. That was followed by singles "Mountains Of Gold," featuring Kamasi Washington, Wiki, Ibeyi, and Sampha, and "Show Love," featuring Syd and Sampha—two singles which we now know will appear on the full length Everything Is Recorded album.

The album will be released on February 16 and features Damon Albarn, Rachel Zeffira, Peter Gabriel and Owen Pallett alongside all the names mentioned above. The album release will be accompanied by a "major site-specific music and art installation on two floors of the abandoned Savoy cinema in Dalston, East London," running from February 14 to 17. The upper floor will feature a video installation based around the music while downstairs will be "an immersive sculptural installation that functions as a stage on which Richard Russell and a variety of Everything Is Recorded collaborators will prepare and rehearse, culminating in Everything Is Recorded’s first ever live performance on February 15." Towards the end of 2017, we spoke to Richard Russell about his career, the Everything Is Recorded project, and much more. On the long road to releasing his own album, he said, "In 2013, I got this thing called Guillain-Barré syndrome, I was paralyzed. I had full body paralysis and was in hospital for quite a long time, with a long recovery period. I'd started building my studio before that. That carried on while I was in hospital, so when I was back I had this place to work. I really couldn't have made the album without that studio, in terms of bringing in all these collaborators and making it comfortable."
