N*E*R*D Share Track-by-Track Breakdown of New Album in Special Listening Session

The group provided details about the new album during a special listening party.

A week before they unleashed their fifth studio album, No_One Ever Really Dies, N*E*R*D hosted a special listening party for some of the biggest names in music. We’re talking Justin Timberlake, Ariana Grande, Puff Daddy, Usher, and more. During the event, the group spoke about the premise of the project and provided descriptions of all 11 records as well as the inspiration behind them.

Now, on the day of No_One Ever Really Dies’ release, N*E*R*D has compiled a track-by-track breakdown of the album using clips from the recent listening session.

One of the highlights of the video was when Pharrell spoke about the penultimate track, “Secret Life of Tigers,” which is directed at the country’s conservative sect.

“This next song is called ‘Secret Life of Tigers’ and it is the revenge to the sickness that's going on in the conservative group of people in this country. This is the fucking revenge,” he explained. “The conservative people have no idea that their kids is doing drugs and rebellion against the fact that they are against immigration, the fact that they are against their children's right to choose between what it is that they want to do, all of those things. These kids are out there partying like fuck you, you're going to die, and we're going to grow up and take over this country. And to me when I look at those teenagers that are partying that hard I call them and I look at this situation I say it's the ‘Secret Life of Tigers.'”

In celebration of the new album, Beats 1 Radio is airing a special one-hour OTHERtone episode that will include audio from the listening session. The special airs at midnight ET. Tune in here.
