Shortly after Meek Mill was sentenced to two to four years in prison, many hip-hop figures expressed their support for the rapper while simultaneously condemning the justice system. T.I. shared some words of encouragement for Meek and Jay Z called the punishment "unjust and heavy-handed." Even Drake said to "Free Meek Mill."
On Tuesday, YG reiterated his support for the Dreamchasers rapper with a new video for his 4Hunnid brand. The project features a group of people tagging sidewalks and walls with phrases like "Fuck the system" and "Free Meek." They're also rocking new pieces from the 4Hunnid’s fall/winter 2017 collection.
"YG did not think twice in lending his voice, his brand and his support to this cultural happening," a press release read, "additionally, vocalizing his opinion on injustices within the judicial system."
The video features a YG x Meek collaborative track and ends with one of 2Pac's most famous quotes:
When I say Thug Life, I mean that shit 'cause these White folks see us as thugs. I don't care what y'all think. I don't care if you think you a lawyer, if you a man, if you an African-American. If you whatever the fuck you think you are. We thugs and niggas to these motherfuckers. Until we own some shit, I'm gonna call it like it is. How you gonna be a man and we starving?
