Beyoncé’s LEMONADEhas a large number of producers and writing credits, but what’s even more intriguing is the amount of artists that were sampled.

Alongside names like Soulja Boy, Ezra Koenig, and Father John Misty, portions of Animal Collective’s “My Girls” is used on “6 Inch” featuring The Weeknd. On Genius, co-producer of “6 Inch” BOOTS, explains the lyrics from “My Girls” were embodied by accident. The original line from “My Girls” goes “I don’t mean to seem like I care about material things." Beyonce sings “she too smart to crave material things.”

Although it’s not a direct copy of the lyrics, Beyoncé decided to credit Animal Collective anyway since it sounds very similar.

BOOTS also says the song’s bridge is viewed as  a “spiritual sequel to the ‘Ghost’ section of ‘Haunted.’”  Read his annotation below and listen to "My Girls" here.
