Makonnen's latest song arrives today as Zane Lowe's latest Beats 1 World Record. Titled "Solo," the track features a grimey, dribbling beat that sets the stage for the rapper to showcase his unique style. Speaking with Zane, Makonnen says the track is about "getting it out there and doing it by yourself." Makonnen was actually in the studio where he asked a couple people to jump on a track. When it came time for the others to collaborate, people backed out. "I just went in the booth and jumped on there and went, 'I can do it solo!'" he tells Zane, which is exactly how he ended up recording the song.

The track is the latest taste of Makonnen's forthcoming Drink More Water 6 project. Previously, he shared tracks like "Sellin"and "Don't Do Too Much" with Tunji Ige that was produced by Noah Breakfast, Heaven in Stereo, and Sam Greens. Pre-order Makonnen's Drink More Water 6 before it drops this Friday, March 18.
