During Chance The Rapper's headlining set at Lollapalooza last night, the 21-year-old rapper brought out fellow Chicagoan R. Kelly for a surprise performance. The pair provided both fans and their violence-stricken city with a special moment.

As the recently released "Wonderful Everyday: Arthur" made waves online, Chance brought energy and charisma to a roaring crowd tens of thousands strong. Fans echoed Bennett as he melodically rapped his melancholic track, "Acid Rain," in sync with his band, The Social Experiment. The mood soon returned to one of happy excitement when Kelly stepped onto the stage, providing soaring vocals over the live instrumentation before singing snippets of his own hits.

Our 2013 cover story artist has come a long way. Watch the legendary R. Kelly join Chance onstage above.
