DJ Father Shaheed has reportedly passed away from a motorcycle accident. Reports of his passing surfaced when the official Public Enemy Facebook page posted their condolences to his family. AllHipHop has also since confirmed with their sources that the cause of death was a motorcycle accident.
Father Shaheed is best known for his work as the DJ for the New Jersey rap group, Poor Righteous Teachers. The group saw prominent success after 1990 when their single, "Rock Dis Funky Joint," was released and turned into a major hit. UPDATE: We are now able to confirm that Father Shaheed, real name is Scott Phillips, was involved in a fatal car crash over the holiday weekend. The crash also involved two other vehicles, one of which struck Phillips motorcycle and forced him to strike a tree. He was 45 years old.
