In addition to carving out a reputation as one of the most stylish rappers in Los Angeles and as one of the city's top ambassadors for Colt 45, Skeme has also been steadily building buzz for a couple of years as a go-to guy for gravelly voiced lyrical firepower. He's become something of a staple in the region, working with like-minded artists like Nipsey Hussle, Problem, ScHoolboy Q, Dom Kennedy and Kendrick Lamar in balancing lyrical dexterity, upbeat party instincts and nuanced takes on Los Angeles area street life.

After a stream of recent songs and the September mixtape Bare With Me, he's preparing to release his new album Ingleworld, with features from artists like Wale and Iggy Azalea, on December 17. "Different" is the latest single off that project, pairing a cinematic beat from Sean Momberger and Wizzo with solid, clever, life-is-good bars like "laugh straight to that bank/we can't see no limits like we ridin' 'round in that tank." It's a compelling entry in the list of reasons that you don't need to be from SoCal to be paying attention to Skeme.
