By now, you all should very well know that EDM festivals are a huge thing and there are seemingly a never-ending amount of options. Many of them, as I'm sure you've noticed as well, recycle a lot of the same mega headliners and lineups. In a constant effort to offer something different and unique, the decade-old Moogfest in Asheville, NC has released their first wave of acts scheduled to perform at the 2014 edition to be held from April 23-27 at various different venues throughout the city.
This festival, which dubs itself "The Synthesis of Technology, Art & Music," has always given a nod to true legends and innovators as well as focusing on exceptional current talent. This first wave lineup is really no joke though. Kraftwerk, maybe the single most innovative and influential electronic act EVER, was announced as performing a three-night concert series. The Giorgio Moroder revival continues as well with an announced live performance. Fellow Daft Punk resurrectee, Nile Rodgers, is scheduled to be performing with his legendary disco act Chic. Other extremely noteworthy festival performers include DAD favorite Kaytranada, The Gaslamp Killer (fresh off his scooter accident recovery), RJD2, Green Velvet, Sasha, Shigeto, Two Fresh, TOKiMONSTA, and Soul Clap.
Accompanied by a number of other rock and indie acts as well as live speakers and label showcases, this festival seems to continue to create something rare and special...something for the heads if you will. Basically, it's not always necessary for a festival to go super bloated and huge in an effort to obtain permanent rage face. Moogfest appears to keep showing the music industry what's up by consistently knocking this ideal out of the park.
