20 Underrated Jay-Z Songs

Jay-Z "Don't You Know" (2002)

Album: Dame Dash Presents Paid In Full
Label: Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam
Producer: Just Blaze

Nearly a decade before "Niggas In Paris," we got our first notice that Jigga's in Paris: "Fresh from London, Paris, Germany, it's Euro Jay! International Hov! Bonsoir, motherfuckers!" When Roc-A-Fella Films released the Cam'ron-starring crime flick Paid In Full in late 2002, the label's roster was at its crowded peak, before things started to splinter, and the soundtrack album is brimming with tracks by the ascendant Diplomats and State Property crews. When Jay did show up for one solo cut, it was simply to fire some disrespect in Nas's general direction over a bonkers Just Blaze beat. No names, few details, but it was clearly who he was tired of dealing with, but unable to resist taking shots at. "Don't you know when you're defeated, young punk? Won't you go throw in the towel? I'm better with vowels." —Al Shipley
