"This is the end for all my unrecognized greatness."
Pusha T delivered this brash statement on "My God," the lead track from his first solo mixtape, Fear Of God. Two years and two projects later, he seems poised to flood the streets with the arrogant drug-dealer music he's excelled at making for over a decade. Considering the inspiration for the title of his debut solo album, My Name Is My Name, Pusha has no room to disappoint; any aficionado of The Wire will tell you it would be sacrilege to name a project after one of the show's best moments and underdeliver.
But will it live up to the expectations? Pusha T doesn't lack the confidence or ability to come through in the clutch. The disarming, off-kilter "Numbers On The Board" promises that Pusha's first album on G.O.O.D. Music should strike a nerve with fans the same way Marlo Stanfield's bone-chilling speech did with fans of David Simon's masterpiece. —Julian Kimble
