Hip-hop was built on the brag, so there's nothing wrong with stuntin'. But the genre needs balance: We can't always pop bottles and smoke weed, right?

On his new song, "Stars," Kentucky rapper Devine Carama uses atmospheric soul to debunk World Star Hip Hop and Tyler Perry movies. "That ain't really us, there's more to us," he says on the song. He recalls a different hip-hop era without belaboring the point.

It's the first single from Devine's forthcoming EP, No Child Left Behind, out this summer. Stream "Stars" below.
