Lupe Fiasco takes a stand against gun violence today with a new track dedicated to victim Jonylah Watkins. In case you haven’t heard, the 6-month-old Watkins was shot and killed by five bullets aimed at her father, who was changing her diaper at the time. On the Soundtrakk-produced “Jonylah Forever,” Lupe memorializes his fellow Chicagoan and as he imagines what her life might have held if violence hadn’t ended it prematurely.
There’s no word yet on if this is just a one-off track or if it’s destined for a future Fiasco release. In any case, give it a listen and see what Lupe’s been saying about the song and the incident below.
