Against all odds, Animal Collective managed to out-weird themselves with the music video for “Applesauce,” out today. Enter the Void’s Gaspar Noé (perhaps best known around these parts for his unwitting “collaboration” with Kanye West) directs the visuals, apparently inspired by Paul Sharits’ N:O:T:H:I:N:G, a short film from 1968.

The clip, which is “intended to be viewed in complete darkness for maximum effect,” is one long shot of model Lindsey Wixson eating a piece of fruit under a barrage of filtered lights. So, get the lights, watch that below, never eat a peach again and pick up track itself on Animal Collective’s Centipede Hz, out now on Domino.
