We're back at it with this week's best remixes. We've got a wide range of sounds, with some big artists: TNGHT, Zed Bias, Bassnectar, Traxman, Skream, Friction, and plenty of others. The remix game is live and in full effect this year.
Mala ft. Danay Suarez - "Noche Sueños (Zed Bias aka Maddslinky Remix)"
Mala's Mala In Cuba project was one of the brightspots in the 2012 dubstep realm, and one of our favorite leftfield projects in all of dance music. To hear Zed Bias throw on his Maddslinky alias and bring one of the album cuts deep into the club? With that awesome vocal atop? Awesome stuff.
Big Sean, Jay-Z & Kanye West - "Clique (TNGHT Edit)"
With rumblings of Hudson Mohawke signing with G.O.O.D. Music, it made sense that Lunice dropped this during his awesome Daily Dose mix from earlier this week. The best part is that this one isn't a massive reworking, just a bunch of nimble edits done to the original.
Underworld - "Rez (Bassnectar Remix)"
Bassnectar got the honor and privilege to remix one of the dance music scene's most classic of tunes. If you remember the original "Rez," this might bring a tear to your eye.
Anita Ward - "Ring My Bell (Kill Paris Remix)"
We swear, if you're looking to get your mom into today's EDM, this might be one of those perfect bridge tracks. It's a great example of retwerking a classic into the modern sound. We're also suckers for how K.P. threw random parts of the original in here, while still maintaining a funky vibe.
Jason Short - "Low Down Dirty Shame (Bells & Whistles Remix)"
Pure electronic funk... for almost nine minutes. This is the stuff (club) dreams are made of. Via XLR8R.
Fleur - "Turn The Lights On (The Prototypes Remix)"
This makes two weeks in a row where The Prototypes are featured, but with the roll they're on, they could do one remix every week and make this list every week.
Traxman - "Trans Europe Express 2013"
The illest footwork remix of Kraftwerk's classic tune that we never knew that we always wanted.
Skream - "Kreepin"
Aaliyah's birthday passed the other day, and this track working its way onto the Internet was a blessing. Skream's a don for this rework.
Stafford Brothers ft. Lil Wayne & Christina Milian - “Hello (Candyland Remix)”
There's something beautifully special about this remix. It has the hypnotic bop, but Christina's vocals give it a nice depth. Dope contrast of sounds from the Candyland boys.
Arlissa - "Sticks & Stones (Friction Remix)"
Friction isn't just drum & bass' prodigal son, he's an accomplished producer in his own right. While this is a bit slower than normal dnb tempo, he beefs up Arlissa's track for a proper anthemic, breakbeat-y banger. One to grow on.
