38. Showbiz & AG, Runaway Slave (1992)
The title of Showbiz & AG's underacknowledged debut LP has an unmistakably strong message, even if most of the songs focus more on straight-ahead boom-bap than sociopolitical bomb-throwing. But throughout the album, the Bronx duo raps about urban oppression and dreams of escape. The title track makes the ghetto-as-plantation analogy most directly: "Pretty soon even you will be a goner / Easy access to guns, liquor stores on every corner ... I gotta get away."
