From: London, England
Pros: It's refreshingly simple.
Cons: There aren't too many directions to take with such a simple sound.
Making captivating music as a mostly acoustic boy-girl duo is tricky. With so much music these days seeking to be instantly gratifying, the sparse and straightforward songs of Big Deal aren't the kind that jump out at you and demand attention. Their appeal lies in the subtleties, the undertones, and the curious dynamic between the beautiful 19-year-old Alice Costelloe of London and 29-year-old California native Kacey Underwood. The music is intimate and usually quiet, but it's hard not to think of a less amplified version of '90s rock, especially since there's a song called "Cool Like Kurt" on their debut album Lights Out.
