Karl Lagerfeld Says Adele is "A Little Too Fat," Speaks on Lana Del Rey and M.I.A.

German designer Karl Lagerfeld recently proved he's got some knowledge about the up-and-comers in music when he invited Azealia Banks over for a private performance. While in the Metro offices in Paris, he shed some more light onto his musical taste, and he doesn't hold back with his opinions.

On Lana Del Rey, Adele, and Florence Welch:

"I prefer Adele and Florence Welch. But as a modern singer [Lana Del Rey] is not bad.The thing at the moment is Adele. She is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice. Lana del Rey is not bad at all. She looks very much like a modern-time singer. In her photos she is beautiful. Is she a construct with all her implants? She's not alone with implants."

On M.I.A. giving the middle finger during the Superbowl halftime show:

"Nowadays people give the middle finger quite quickly—it's not the best behavior. Everybody does that, what's new about that? It's just become a bad habit. People in magazines are 50% bimbo and 50% pregnant women"

Adele is not "a little too fat." I think she's a gorgeous woman and an amazing talent. She's not trying to be anything she's not, including a pompous, materialistic, shallow narcissist with obnoxious sunglasses to hide his age spots. I don't usually get this insultingly brutal, but people like Lagerfeld and the fashion industry piss me off how they inflict this false sense of expectations of beauty on the everyday woman. We get it. Your clothing is art and you need a skinny model as a canvas to not distract from your vision. But give the world a break here. Most women can't afford your clothing let alone fit in them.

@Nikki nonono, people like you are disgusting in every sense. You call out people for being "Pompous" and "shallow narcissists" for having OPINIONS and expressing them publicly, all while you do the EXACT same thing ("with obnoxious sunglasses to hide his age spots."). You also insinuate, out of thin air, that people such as Mr. Lagerfeld "inflict a false sense of expectations of beauty", and that they need "a skinny model as a canvas", without ANY evidence of this being true. “C’mon guys, this is like…really bad and stuff. Hey, stop having opinions that aren't geared towards making everyone happy..." Meanwhile, you continue to pump a lifestyle offering of intimidatingly homogenous & intellectually vapid objections in order to bemoan a man having an individual thought. God forbid someone challenges your "everyone is beautiful except people who disagree with me" BULLSHIT. I for one praise Karl for not caring what people think about his shit. It's called doing what you want and it's the year of the Dragon, nerd. Go get some weed and hitch hike across America, it might loosen you up.

It's funny that this piece noted that Karl Lagerfeld doesn't hold back with his opinions, when saying Adele is "a little too fat" is holding back enormously. Moreover, calling Adele fat does not imply she's not attractive. Attractiveness is subjective. Fatness is not.
