Most viewers probably didn't even catch M.I.A. flipping the middle finger during her performance with Madonna at the Super Bowl, but even though it was only a split second, some people are very angry that the gesture was shown during the biggest television event in the country.

At 14 seconds in, while M.I.A. proclaims, "I don't give a sh*t," you can see her briefly flick off the camera. According to TMZ, the Parents Television Council is outraged, and they blame not only M.I.A., but NBC for letting it happen, claiming that the network chose to feature "performers who have based their careers on shock profanity and titillation."

NBC and the NFL have apologized, saying "There was a failure in NBC's delay system" and admitting that "the obscene gesture in the performance was completely inappropriate, very disappointing, and we apologize to our fans."

There is no word on whether or not M.I.A. will be fined for her action.
