It's that time of year again. The time of year when we look back and think, "this year really would have made Jesus proud" and "It's too bad he hasn't come back from the dead to see it." It was an especially great year for hip-hop, with the rise of Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean, and J.Cole; with monster albums by The Throne, Lil' Wayne, and Bad Meets Evil; with Rick Ross dominating, and Drake emoting.

2011 was a huge success by any measure, but how could we apprecaite the successes without the fails? And sure enough, this year proved to be chock full of jaw-dropping, head-scratching moments. Seasons change but stupidity doesn't.

So follow ItsTheReal (and follow @ItsTheReal) down this bumpy road of memories as we chronicle the biggest Hip-Hop Fails of 2011...

That Ray J v. Fab beef was... entertaining to say the least. Lupe... #cmonson But the Drake tattoo does take the cake lol. I think Lohan had a case, though. The No. 1 song in the country had a blatant diss... Regardless of what she was going through, that definitely did not help her image.

Yeah Lupe's more or less correct. Complex can't do politics. And why is "I'm Gay" a fail?

London Calling December 26th, 2011 at 07:31 PM

'I'm Gay' was a fail because Lil B pretty much copped out. 'I'm Happy' in parentheses? Come on! It was all a ploy to capitalize on the pink dollar. He didn't have the guts to just go ahead with the controversial title.

Why u puttin that Lupe thing as a fail? that's just a one man stating his opinion smh...I think it's good he questions the american way of thinking that they're the "police of the world" and got the right to go on other countries' business'. I don't think there was any fail in it what so ever.

Lupe's opinion is a fail. He wasn't questioning any way of thinking; He called Obama a terrorist and says he doesn't vote. If your going to call Obama a terrorist at least explain why...Nothing smart or deep about saying "[Insert Name] is a terrorist." Lupe provided no analysis or explantation for his opinion. To make such a statement as that without warrant is dumb.

        Yeah, good point.

It would be a good point had Lupe actually not stated why he felt Obama (or any president leading this country) and the US government are the world's biggest terrorist but he did so your point is moot my friend. Do a little research next time.

Lupe has stated that he feels Obama has bowed to pressure and not stood on his convictions. Complex is grabbing at the reader's digest version of what he has said.

Complex on Lupe? Come on. Complex has no idea wtf Lupe was talking about so ya should stay in your lane. 2. ANY person who has even the slightest hint to what Lupe is talking about, KNOWS that you cant simply discuss his reasoning in public. They would be on his ass and down his throat in a heart beat. He did it right, made a statement and left it alone.

This comment gets trolled... Honestly why did you take the time to type your comment? Your argument is; Lupe's reasoning for his statement would cause people to question his intelligence and rationality thus he shouldn't have to explain himself. #Fail Lets say Lupe is correct and the USFG is a giant terrorist organization. Don't you think Lupe should explain why to people that is case? He would be doing a public service for millions of Americans. Lupe's dumb comments >>> Lupe's dumb fans No wonder so many people bought lasers; Dumb people love dumb stuff

As a "celebrity" if Lupe would've went out of his way to explain the negative effects of our foreign policy he wouldn't live very long. There's a reason you don't hear people of large scale influence publicly speaking of how our humanitarian efforts in other nations are just an attempt to shadow the blatant pillaging of resources we partake in. We criminalize leaders in other nations who are not willing to "negotiate" through the media and have them killed either by our hands or the rebels of their own nation. This is not the "oh great nation of liberty". NDAA passed on New Years Eve while you were out buying alcohol to celebrate by the way.

so if you can't go all the way, you shouldn't even bring it up. its pseudo-revolutionary. If you won't pay the "ultimate price" for these beliefs than it deserves to be a FAIL

No you are distorting words to make Lupe look bad. He never said the Government is a "massive terrorist organization", he gave his opinion, saying Obama is a terrorist because Obama and his foreign policies are inspiring people in other countries to become terrorists to in effect Obama is 'promoting' terrorism. Don't try and distort Lupe's quotes to try and put Lupe down, you are obviously not a Lupe fan, so keep that to yourself and your shitty life cuz
