Donald Trump is full of surprises. Fresh-off of talking in favor of trans bathroom rights the GOP presidential candidate has agreed to an interview with sparring partner (Well, one of his sparring partners) Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly. The duo's storied on-again off-again feud began in August of last year when Kelly called out Trump for sexist comments against women at the first GOP debate, which Trump didn't take too kindly.
At the first GOP debate Kelly called out Trump for calling women, "fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals..." and asked him if he thought that sounded, "like the temperament of a man we should elect as president." Days later Trump would respond to this factually based criticism by basically saying Kelly was raging because she was on her period.
The feud would continue, with Fox News getting involved to defend Kelly. This feud would lead Trump to threaten to skip a Fox News debate if Kelly wasn't removed as a moderator saying she was biased against him. And when Trump didn't get what he wanted he did the "grownup" (his words) thing and skipped the debate.
The two finally came face-to-face again for the Detroit GOP debate where Kelly was tough on Trump, showing video footage of Trump flip-flopping on issues. Although Trump played nice at the Detroit debate it wasn't long before he was trashing Kelly again.
To which Fox responded, per The Hollywood Reporter: "Donald Trump’s vitriolic attacks against Megyn Kelly and his extreme, sick obsession with her is beneath the dignity of a presidential candidate who wants to occupy the highest office in the land."
Now Kelly will interview Trump for Fox according toTHR.
"Mr. Trump and I sat down together for a meeting earlier this month at my request," Kelly said in a statement reportsTHR. "He was gracious with his time and I asked him to consider an interview. I am happy to announce he has agreed, and I look forward to a fascinating exchange—our first sit-down interview together in nearly a year."
The interview will be broken up into two parts airing on May 17 for the premiere of Megyn Kelly Presents and May 18 during the Kelly File.
