A Florida jury yesterday returned a mixed verdict in the trial of Michael Dunn, who was charged with the murder of 17-year-old Jordan Davis and the attempted murder of several others following a dispute over the volume of the music the teen and his friends were playing.

In response to the case's outcome—and following the countless other precedents of rough justice and dead black boys—many took to Twitter to engage in a beautiful and moving dialogue centered on the hashtag #DangerousBlackKids. Most of the tweets are responses to the underlying, dehumanizing racial fear perpetuating the pattern of white men seeming to literally get away with the murder of unarmed black boys. As ever, #DangerousBlackKids is a reminder that some of the most cogent and powerful social and political commentary on the Internet comes from Black Twitter.
