Balmain Designer Olivier Rousteing Says Rihanna Is the New Madonna, David Bowie, Michael Jackson, and Prince of Fashion

The designer compares Rihanna to great pop icons of the '80s and '90s and says what she does is "great for fashion."

Designer Olivier Rousteing has been very vocal about his love of strong female figures including Kim Kardashian, Beyoncé, and his super crush, Rihanna, the only woman who could "turn him straight." In a recent interview with Alexa Chung during Vogue Festival 2015, Rousteing continued his high praise of RiRi by comparing her to some of the biggest fashion icons in music history. 

"What I love about these pop stars when it was '90s or '80s, they mixed menswear and womenswear and they did it pretty well," said the Balmain designer. "Rihanna is the same way. She mixes menswear and womenswear and [gives] it this power...it's great for fashion to see those mix."

Rousteing also named a few of the other models that he loves to see in his clothes and included Kim Kardashian in the mix, saying that it's the confidence that makes a Balmain girl. Check out the full interview below:
