During his appearance on The Afternoon Drive with Carlin, Bart and Maggie on Friday, former NFL linebacker Bart Scott revealed how players around the league used to taunt Aaron Hernandez on the field.

"We used to always mess with Hernandez when we were on the field and say, ‘Hey man, I heard they found the body,'" Scott said. "And we thought it was a joke because we knew something had happened in Florida." Listen to the exchange below.

During his time at the University of Florida, Hernandez was sought out by authorities for his possible role in the 2007 nonfatal double shooting of Justin Glass and Corey Smith in Gainesville. At the time, Hernandez refused to speak with police and no charges were filed against him. However, the case resurfaced following his arrest for the murder of Odin Lloyd

Looking back at Hernandez's life, Scott speculates that being drafted by the New England Patriots may have been the worst thing to happen to the Bristol, Massachusetts native. "The hardest thing to do when you’re an athlete is to separate from where you come from," he said. "We knew that he was in a gang...a lot of us grow up in gangs and what happens is it’s hard to remove yourself from them, but we’re removed by distance."
