Phil Jackson is on thin ice with Knicks fans these days. While he publicly battled star player Carmelo Anthony, Jackson's one saving grace the last couple seasons was Kristaps Porzingis, who gave New Yorkers hope during a trying time for the franchise.

If recent reports are to be believed, Jackson is about to flush all that goodwill down the toilet. The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski shared a juicy story on Tuesday morning, claiming the Knicks are willing to listen to trade offers for Porzingis.

Sources: As teams become aware Phil Jackson isn't ruling out possibility of trading Kristaps Porzingis, frenzy of interest is growing today.

To add insult to injury, Wojnarowski claims the relationship between the team and their young star has grown distant, with the franchise making no attempt to reach out to him since Porzingis skipped exit interviews at the end of the season. Separate reports from the New York Daily News have suggested the Boston Celtics are in the mix for Porzingis—can you imagine losing your team's best young player to a bitter rival?

As you'd probably guess, Knicks fans did not respond to this news with excitement. With fans from other franchises licking their chops at the idea of their team potentially dealing for Porzingis, New Yorkers quickly got out their pitchforks and prepared to run Phil Jackson out of town.

The eternal lesson of being a Knicks fan is to never think that there's nothing left a team could do to hurt you.

So basically every white European stretch forward is exactly the same. Got it.

The shame of it all—and perhaps part of the reason the Knicks continue to do stupid shit year after year—is that Knicks fans are some of the best basketball fans you will find. They continue to pack Madison Square Garden even when their team or the front office is a total clown show, and the franchise rewards them by harvesting their souls with ass backwards moves.

For the sake of the fans, let's hope cooler heads prevail here. Porzingis is only 21 years old and has already flashed signs of stardom, and he's one of the few bright spots for the franchise since the turn of the century. If Jackson thinks his GM tenure can survive trading him away, he may want to start combing through the reactions on social media.
