Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor are both believers of their own hype. A good thing in the worlds of boxing and MMA fighting where self-promotion and pumped-up executives trying to prove their sport's dominance thrive. So, it's no surprise that a Mayweather vs. McGregor fight is already a much talked-about and heavily rumored bout despite being just that: a rumor.

Buzz about the potential fight began last August— one month prior to Mayweather's final career fight against Andre Berto—when McGregor stated that he would "dominate" the boxer in a fight. If Floyd ends his retirement to re-enter the ring for his 50th fight, and if McGregor decides to come back from his admittedly-stagedretirement, Mayweather's father is riding for his son to win the bout by a landslide.

Ever the hypeman, as well as his son's trainer, Floyd Mayweather Sr. addressed the rumors in the video clip above: "He had told me the other day that he's going to take another fight. He told me it's (against) some kind of [MMA fighter]."

Mayweather Sr. attempted to stray from naming McGregor, but he couldn't seem to help himself and boldly predicted the outcome of the potential fight. "We'd beat the hell out of that man," he said about McGregor. "My son can whoop him. He's dead."

And it didn't stop there for Mayweather Sr. He predicted the fight would happen and said it would have to be a boxing match using boxing rules.

"Yeah, that's what I thought they would do. That's what everyone has been saying. I really don't know exactly when, but I'm pretty sure it's going to come around pretty soon. Won't be that long. I'll tell you this, if it's not MMA fighting, Conor is going to get the hell beat out of him. I know lil' Floyd ain't going for being an MMA fighter, so that means that McConor is going to get the hell beat out of him still."

McGregor is still under contract with the UFC making it unlikely that the fight will go down, at least the way Mayweather Sr. predicts.
