Last night's Game 3 contest between the Boston Celtics and Atlanta Hawks was all about the point guards. Isaiah Thomas put his team on his back, scoring a game-high 42 points to help propel the Celtics to a 111-103 victory. Marcus Smart was out here giving a Razzie-worthy flop performance and the Hawks' Dennis Schröder was playing a little dirty following a cheap shot from Thomas that the referees didn't even notice.
In the first quarter, Thomas got away a clothesline move that resulted in Schröder getting slapped in the head.
As expected, Schröder retaliated on the very next play by muscling Thomas to the ground.
Both players were given a technical foul. After the game, the Hawks point guard briefly spoke about the incident and the aftermath with reporters.
Schröder also took to Twitter to vent about the matter in a tweet that has since been deleted.
According to former NBA executive Stu Jackson, Thomas could be suspended.
Thomas, however, doesn't believe he will be punished, telling MassLive.com, "I'm not because I didn't mean to hit him in the head." With Game 4 on Sunday, we should be hearing from the league very soon.
