After starting the season with an abysmal 31 percent from inside on field goal inside the arc, with a 20 percent from the three-point line through November, it was a hard to not agree with Kobe Bryant when he stated at not long after the season started that he sucks. Yes, he did have a clutch 3-pointer against the Wizards and dropped 31 points a couple weeks ago, and he's showing a little bit of some flashes of his old self at times.
But we all know that since The Black Mamba poetically announced his retirement from the game earned his legacy with, it's over for the perennial Lakers All-Star. Yet it was announced earlier this week that he is now leading amongst all players in the All-Star balloting. That means more than Chef Curry, LeBron, Paul George, and any other great player on better teams than the last-place Lakers, who are legit for dropping serious numbers on the stat sheets this season.

This also happened to Magic Johnson for the 1992 All-Star Game after he announced that he contracted HIV, and had to retire from the NBA as a result. Jordan as well in 1998 when he was speculated to retire before the end of that season. Regarding farewell tours for legends, why should Kobe be shocked by all this?
