Unfortunately, it’s not uncommon to see football fans getting into fights in the stands during college and NFL games. Often times, those fights feature security guards and police officers in the middle of them trying to break things up. But on Saturday night, it appears as though one officer crossed the line and got involved in a fight with a fan at the LSU/Ole Miss game at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Miss.

In the clip above, you can see what appears to be a police officer punching an Ole Miss fan in the face. That fan, later identified as Chris Barnes, reportedly suffered a concussion, a broken orbital wall, and other facial injuries as a result of the altercation. His wife Holly Barnes took to Facebook after it happened to address the incident and to call the officer in the video out for hitting her husband and refusing to provide him with medical attention:

None

This is what Barnes looked like after the incident:

The Oxford Police Department has already distanced itself from what happened. They took to Twitter yesterday to reveal that the officers in the video were not from their department:

There is a video circulating around social media right now of an incident that occurred yesterday during the Ole Miss football game.

The University of MississippiPolice Department also released a statement and revealed that the officers in the video are not connected to them, either. Rather, they said that the officers hail from other jurisdictions in the area and that they are hired specifically to work security at Ole Miss games:

An investigation into the matter is ongoing. Regardless of who is to blame for Barnes’ injuries, someone was clearly in the wrong here. Stay tuned for additional details.
