The Seattle Seahawks have reportedly made a huge effort to ensure they keep Marshawn Lynch well past the final season of his four-year, $31 million contract in 2015. NFL.com's Ian Rapoport is reporting the 'Hawks have made a "sizable" contract extension offer which may lock up the 28-year-old running back up for the rest of his career.
Details are still uncertain, but it is believed that the new deal could kick in immediately and mean more than $10 million for Lynch next season. Beast Mode is slated to make $5 million in 2015, under his current contract.
This past November, rumors were circulating that Lynch was considering retirement after this season. Of courses, the outcome of Super Bowl XLIX, the future of the Seahawks' offensive line coach and assistant head coach Tom Cable and his overall health will also factor into his decision. But, for now, the offer is apparently on the table. So, the ball is in Marshawn's court.
