Bob Costas has never been shy about his love for Mickey Mantle. It looks like he even trained to be a switch hitter, just like his idol.
There’s only one problem. Costas can’t hit anything.
With a foot stepping so far into the bucket that he might fall over, the 62-year-old Costas took to the batting cages during the Hall of Fame induction ceremony about a month ago. You have admire him getting into the spirit of the weekend, but he can’t be happy that this footage is now widely circulating.
Two other key points:
- Who tries to bunt in a batting cage? You’ve pumped at least a dollar or more in quarters/token into that machine. Don’t cheat yourself.
- You’ve gotta love him going in there with a polo shirt tucked into khakis. It’s not the best athletic wear, but at least it fits in with his brutal-looking swing.
