Cops Bust a U-Haul Carrying Three Tons of Weed After it Ran a Red Light

Cops in Bakersfield, California busted two men for transporting three tons of week in a U-Haul truck after they ran a red light.

Here’s a helpful tip. If you’re planning on transporting three tons of marijuana, it would be a good idea to abide by each and every traffic law you come across.

A pair of men from Bakersfield, California were moving 6,732 pounds of pot in the back of a rented U-Haul when the driver, Daniel Ruiz, ran a red light. Two police officers saw the infraction and when they got out to issue the ticket, they smelled a particular scent coming from the locked cargo area.

Inside, the officers discovered 252 bales of bud, estimated by local police to be worth around $76.4 million, though The Bakersfield Californian suggests its street value is closer to $26.4 million.
