Earlier this week, Lupe Fiasco released his new single, "Mission," which is set to appear on his next album, Tetsuo & Youth. He created the track is order to empower and inspire those suffering with cancer. And apparently, the U.S. Men's National Team thought that the track was so inspirational that they just agreed to have Lupe serve as their official Music Director during the World Cup this summer. His duties will include:

  • Creating Spotify playlists for the USMNT
  • Handling the in-game music programming during the Send-Off Series in late May and early June
  • Appearing in New York City during Fan Appreciation Day on May 30
  • Performing in Chicago at the U.S. Soccer Fan Fest before the U.S. takes on Ghana on June 16

In addition to announcing that Lupe will serve as the Music Director, the USMNT also just revealed that Futura will serve as the team's Art Director. He will create the USMNT's official World Cup poster, put his stamp on a variety of limited-edition USMNT items, and put together "live" works at both the Fan Appreciation Day and the U.S. Soccer Fan Fest.
