What it teaches you: Race cars in the '70s were not to be messed with.
The 1972 flim The Speed Merchants proves that not everything needs 5.1 surround sound and high-definition. Some things are better said with that all-original feel. This classic documentary, narrated by Mario Andretti and Vic Elford (driving the Ferrari 312P and Alfa Romeo T33TT/3, respectively), paints the picture of the wheel-to-wheel racing in the 1972 World Sportscar Championship. Ferrari may have handily run away with the title, but the season featured fierce racing between big-name drivers, which included Jacky Ickx, Clay Regazzoni, Ronnie Peterson, and Graham Hill.
