Late last month, Scottie Pippen allegedly knocked a man out outside of Nobu in Malibu, Calif. Although he wasn't arrested for anything, police did question Pippen in the days after the incident before they ultimately decided not to press charges. But the case isn't closed just yet.
According to a new report, Pippen is now being sued by the man who had to be hospitalized after the former NBA great allegedly punched him. The man—a 49-year-old California resident named Camran Shafighi—is suing Pippen for $4 million. He says he simply asked Pippen for an autograph for his girlfriend's son on the night of the alleged attack and received a beatdown for it.
"At no time did or could Mr. Shafighi physically provoke or fight back, as he was knocked unconscious with the first blow," his lawsuit says.
Several people who witnessed the fight between Pippen and Shafighi say an autograph request was not what set Pippen over the edge, though. Rather, Pippen reportedly got upset after Shafighi repeatedly took photos of him both inside and outside of Nobu. That led to an argument, which led to violence, which then led to Pippen reportedly delivering a knockout punch.
Now a judge will have to decide whether or not that warrants a payout for Shafighi. Stay tuned.
