Pininfarina is best known for having designed the majority of Ferraris, the latest Maseratis, and a number of other striking and beautiful cars. This doesn't mean the storied firm has only ever worked on cars; Pininfarina has made wine labels, the Coca-Cola Freestyle machine, a really ugly hotel in Southern California that only Gordon Ramsay could fix, and even stationary exercise bikes. This jet might be one of the best yet, though, and the Red Dot design award jury agrees, since the interior will be presented with the prestigious award on July 1st.

The interior of the Sukhoi Superjet 100, a regional jet that has been built from the ground up to be extremely efficient, was done by the automotive masters, and it looks way more comfortable than those flying cigarettes usually do. Rather than cramming a 3+3 seating arrangement in there, Pininfarina has opted to go with a 3+2 layout to provide a bit more room between the seats, and then rammed home the airy feel with plenty of LED lighting.

While the Sukhoi Superjet 100 will initially only be available on Mexico's Interjet airline, we hope a few other companies pick it up shortly.
