What the Hell Was a Local Motors Rally Fighter Doing in Manhattan?

We don't know, but we like it.

You should have seen me walking out of work there other day. There I was, coming out of the office, stepping through puddles after an extremely nasty, rainy New York day. I had just finished putting my headphones and selecting the J. Cole album on my phone, when I looked up, turned my head across the street and stopped dead in my tracks. There, in the lot that I use for our cars every weekend, was a Local Motors Rally Fighter. Now, I've seen Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and Audi R8s in this lot, so it's not a surprise that there are some high-profile vehicles filing in and out, but a Rally Fighter is on a completely different level.

This is a car that I never even knew if I'd ever seen in the wild, let alone in the streets of New York City. Seriously, on 22nd street? The fuck? I was able to snap these photos with my phone, as my face was trying to grin bigger than my mouth would allow. I was a little too spastic to actually look at the license plate (before the attendant started wondering what the hell I was doing snooping around the lot), so I didn't see where it was from, but this thing was epic to see in person. It's every bit as badass as you can imagine.

As a recap, this thing has a tubular steel space frame, the front suspension has an 18-inch travel, independent double A-arm, the rear suspension has a 20-inch travel, 4-Link solid axle, and it has a 430hp 6.2L, V8 engine.

The was kind of like one of those great white buffalo for me, so now that I've seen it in person, I'm not exactly sure what to do. I guess the next step is to actually drive one.
