Even though injuries ravaged him and ultimately ruined what could have been one of the greatest careers, Bill Walton was every bit the superstar he seemed destined to become in the 1977 NBA Finals. He took home the MVP award after averaging 18.5 points per game over the course of the series, battling with burly 76ers center Darryl Dawkins all series long. His Game 6 effort—where he logged 20 points and 23 rebounds—was the type of all-around dominant performance that people would come to expect from the big redhead every single year, but injuries prevented games like that from becoming the norm.
