Akron's Point Guard Arrested on Drug Trafficking Charges

At the worst time, too.

None

Damn. It was really all good just a week ago. Akron was ranked No. 24 in the country and was rolling on a 19-game winning streak, which was the nation's largest. Then things suddenly went south as the Zips were upset by the lower-ranked Buffalo Bulls, and not too long after that, Akron found out one of its star players was getting arrested. Point guard Alex Abreu was arrested on drug trafficking charges and marijuana possession.

The guard did plead not guilty and was released on a $5,000 bail this afternoon, but unfortunately for Akron, he's been suspended indefinitely because of police investigation. Akron proceeded to lose to Kent State without Abreu. We're guessing it's going to be a grind for the Zips this March.
