Yesterday, it was reported that the Yankees sued over the right to claim their nickname, "Evil Empire," after another company tried to use it. They won because, well, they are the evil empire and no one else in baseball is. Well, Heisman-winning quarterback Johnny Manziel is essentially in the same situation.ESPN reported JMAN2 Enterprises (Johnny's father's company) filed a lawsuit against Eric Vaughan, who sold T-shirts that said "Keep Calm and Johnny Football."
Although Manziel didn't trademark the name, he could very well win the case because there's only one Johnny Football, and therefore, Manziel can claim ownership. Vaughan might be a bit frazzled because of the potential loss of revenue. It looks like he could use one of those "Keep Calm and..." Oh yeah, trademark.
